When Your Loot Filter Is Too Strict

Signs you are hiding useful leveling and crafting bases.

The same ideas apply in Path of Exile 1 and Path of Exile 2 unless a step says otherwise.

Why filters matter

Path of Exile drops more items than any human should read. A loot filter hides junk, paints useful bases and keeps mapping sane. Playing without one is a choice, but it is rarely a good one after the early acts.

Setup outline

  1. Open FilterBlade or install a maintained NeverSink style.
  2. Start softer while leveling so you still see crafting bases.
  3. Tighten strictness once maps flood the screen.
  4. Re-download after league patches so new items are not missing.
  5. Adjust colours for your skill gems and flasks if the defaults bury them.

Troubleshooting

If you never see chaos recipe rares, the filter may be too strict. If every pack sounds like a festival, lower effect and sound tiers. Console and controller players often need larger labels more than louder beams.
